It would be great to be able to watch your downloaded videos through the Windows Media Center Interface. This would enable users of Media Center to use their remote controls to control playback, and also use Media Center features like zoom to change the aspect ratio of movies to fill the television screen.
Long term it would be even better to have a full Jaman interface for Media Center to control searching and downloading as well. As far as I know currently there aren't any movie download services integrated into Media Center so it might be a great opportunity to reach new users, especially as Media Center is now a standard part of Vista.
Thanks for the suggestion, roryobryan. We keep our eyes out for ways to do this kind of thing, of course, but it's good to know that y'all want support for particular platforms.
If there's anyone else out there that wants WMC support, let us know, so we can prioritize things accordingly. :)
Add my vote here as well. For what it's worth, I basically ended up building a Media Center PC (only Windows machine on my network) so that I could watch Jaman and other services on my TV at top quality. Now that I've got it all working, its a real bummer not having it integrated.
There is a very straightforward SDK for building MCE plug-ins so I'd imagine it would be relatively straightforward compared to some more challenging tasks (e.g.: getting your video to play on an iPod, for example).
While there are at least two other movie download services available through MCE, there are not a lotof options so I'd imagine you'd open yourselves up to a market w/o a lot of intense competition.
Yes. Yes. Yes. C'mon, if you can build a player for AppleTV, you can build one for MCE! Add one for me! If Showtime can make a plugin for Windows MCE, you can too! THAT's a for-pay model....
Update: Netflix has hired the guy who wrote my favored MyNetflix Vista Media Center (MCE) plugin! Note, the plugin works wonderfully. See Netflix hired me! for more information.
Watch Netflix "Watch Me Now" movies in Vista Windows Media Center (and view your DVD queue) through your remote control -- without touching a keyboard or mouse. THIS is how it should be done.
I post this information so that us Vista MCE'ers can see the possibilities, and to point the Jaman developers to what can and should be done. Jaman should capitalize on Netflix's slow-to-fill catalog of "Watch Me Now" movies.
A VMC plug-in is a must. As was mentioned in the earleir posts. For me and I am sure there is a lot of others that may agree, the whole point of a home entertainment system is to provide a 10 foot standard user interface to access all content, inlcuding music, film, TV, videos, home shopping, etc etc etc. Jaman has an opportunity to gain a new market of the VMC users. For me anohter proprietary viewer is a no-go and a definate show stopper....
