Hello again maggiemurphy1990,

Since it seems like an incorrect system time is producing the error message encountered on your end, I would suggest checking that your computer clock is accurate, as well as the time zone and Daylight Savings Time settings.

If you happen to have Windows Vista as your operating system, you can update your Window's clock by double-clicking the time displayed in the Windows taskbar, then selecting update time from your server.

You may find further helpful step-by-step instructions by visiting either one of the following sites:

http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/dealing-with-windows-vista-time-sync-problems/

OR

http://www.zolved.com/synapse/view_content/26598/Can_I_change_Computers_Date_Time_and_Time_Zone_in_Windows_

After addressing the time sync issue, I would suggest opening up your Jaman Player, logging in with your Jaman username and password, and then attempting to watch a free trailer, such as the one for “I am Legend”:

http://www.jaman.com/movie/Am-Legend-Trailer/0nKO7pNldJmE/

If you are able to view this clip without any snags, then it’s a good sign that you most likely have the technical capabilities to download and watch feature-length films through the Jaman player.

Keep me posted once you’ve had a chance to adjust your system’s time and test out a free trailer.

Hello zoejasper,

There are three settings that might be affected: computer clock, time zone, and Daylight Savings Time.

Since you've noticed a similar issue as maggiemurphy1990, have you tried the instructions above on how to sync your time?

Hello,

I downloaded the short film 'A Monk's Awakening" and get the dreaded error message:

Jaman Player

Your computer's date and time or Time Zone is not set correctly. To set your computer's date and time, choose Start Menu > Settings > Control Panel and click Date and Time.

However, my date and time are set correctly. I have XP sp3, and I can watch trailers just fine.

Please advise?

NicoE,

Have you tried the instructions above in this thread? You need a correct timezone, time, and daylight savings time setting. Please try the above and if you are still having trouble submit a support request to support@jaman.com.

Uh-oh, my bad! Ignore the above, it's from the wrong computer. Duh.

The correct (Jaman) computer time:

Mountain Standard Time 2:46:30 PM

I'm not sure that these screencaps will display in a readable way, but they are

the three 'time' screens from Windows XP. Hope this helps find a solution.

Wow nico, thanks for all the information! Having all the screenshots and the exact error message really helps in debugging the problem.

One more question I have for you: Do you use any programs that block changes to the registry? I know that some anti-spyware programs like SpyBot, for example, will do that. If you have such a program, it could be causing the bogus error message.

The only security programs I run on this machine are:

F-Prot Antivirus Antivirus version number 6.0.9.1 Scanning Engine version number 4.4.4 (all profiles are up to date)

and

ZoneAlarm ZoneAlarm version 7.0.337.000 TrueVector security engine version 7.0.337.000 Driver version 7.0.337.000

I use Lavasoft Ad-aware for scanning, but only manually.

ZoneAlarm seems suspicious, because sites that talk about it mention blocking registry changes. I tried installing it though, and I was still able to play movies with the Jaman player.

I'm actually a developer at Jaman, so if you could send me the Jaman keys in your registry, I might be able to debug the problem. You can send them to a file by going to Start > Run, and typing regedit. Once it launches, go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > jaman.com, right click on the folder, and choose export.

Once you have the file, send it as an attachment to support@jaman.com, and ask them to forward it to GingerbreadMan. I'll take a look at it and see if anything is out of place.

Thanks for you patience with this issue; it seems like its affecting a number of people, so I hope we can find the solution.
