We have heard from about 10 people who have seen the Jaman Player attempt to begin a movie download, but be unable to actually start the download. The errors have two forms:
Download remains at 0% complete - The download initiates (goes through the preparation steps, but remains at 0% (even if left active and connected for several hours).
SSL certificate validation failed - The download cannot initiate at all.
So far, we have heard only from Jamanfolk using Windows computers, both XP and Vista.
In order to examine and fix the issues, we are looking for people who have a few minutes to speak with me and our development folks this week to figure out and resolve these issues.
If you are interested in doing so, please message me through Jaman asap. We will make sure that you get free movies and Jaman schwag in thanks for helping us keep knocking down barriers to great independent and international content.
Thanks,
Chris

Tried to download Jaman Player 9/5 am. Started to download but hung on 2 % and would proceed no further.
Turned off all blocking but still won't download beyond 2 %. Don't know what is wrong technically but will help in any way to get this download.
We figured that one out just today. (Thanks, haroldpohl!!) Try turning off your
security/virus protection ONLY while you download the Jaman Player. It seems
that some of the security software affects the download of the Player.
This will NOT affect the movie download, just the Player installation.
I tried to download "I Am Alive" twice, and both times there was a problem. The downloads did not initiate (I also used up both my free rentals and did not get the movie). The only difference from when I downloaded successfully is that I have installed a wireless router. My desktop, however, is plugged in with a cable and I have no problems with my internet connection otherwise.
Any suggestions?
I left Jaman on all night and in the morning it had connected, downloaded one of the movies, canceled the other one, and restored one rental. Hey, this works great if you're patient.
i´m looking forward to see at least one movie from jaman since yesterday but it´s worthless, is there any other similar link that i can use to watch movies?????
jamalmartz, can you update to the 1.1 player and then once logged in select authorize playback from the menu
imafish, we show your download completed in 2 hours 43 mins.
gordoncanada we can see your download worked the second time, can you tell us what you did?
fortizman, yours is stuck, you should update to the 1.1 player and resume the download
Aorin ... I appreciate your point, but well ... it appears that a number of your users (me included) can find the content on Jaman but we can't watch the content even after paying for it! What's worse, support emails go unanswered and forum messages with problems havent been responded to for months. I'm rooting for you guys, but frankly, I don't see the level of caring or support I would have expected. I really hope I'm just catching youguys at a bad time since I really do want a service like yours to succeed.
Hi waidy, I just responded to your question here, but feel free to message me with more.
We were backlogged with support emails for a while, but now any message will be replied to within a few business days, if not on the same day. But thanks for your patience, and I hope you stick with Jaman!
After one successful download a week ago, now my downloads don't work. I get emails each time including "The Jaman server has not heard from your Jaman Player for a while."
I checked my Macafee, log which shows Internet & Network, Inbound Events; many listings such as:
1/27/2008 1:02:47 AM Source IP 192.168.1.46 Host Name DellXPS410,myhome.westell.com Event Information: UDP Port 53130
The IP 192.168.1.46 is the IP of my computer as listed in my Westell DSL Modem/Router.
DellXPS410 is the name of my computer.
It seems to do it a number of times. Looks like it could be the attempted downloads of a Jaman film.
My choses in the log are to Trust, Ban or Trace this address. Trace does nothing, I presume because this is my computer.
So should I set UDP port 53130 and 192.168.1.46 as Trusted???
Would that help me download?
wteague
I can be contacted Sunday after 4:00 PM EST.
goto http://www.whatsmyip.org/ this is the IP address we will see
You don't need to open up anything on your router. Tracing should trace it whether it's your computer or not so if it doesn't you either disallowed it or you have a broken router. However that being said, I know nothing about Westell DSL modems so they may do something different to the rest.
We really haven't heard from your computer since December 20th.
Typically this is because you are not running the Jaman Player / Service.
For downloads to work you need to be able to connect out on ports 9000-10000.
