Horror for Halloween 2008 - what are you seeing?

If you see a horror film that you liked (or are planning on seeing some good-looking horror), either in theatres, on video, or on line, tell us about it here!

On this end, I've stockpiled a mess of horror DVDs, but yesterday a trip to Amoeba (a terrific music and video shop in San Francisco) yielded a disc of Michele Soavi's The Church) for six dollars, which I had to snag.

And I'm hot to see Quarantine) while it's playing...

How about you?

I saw Quarantine and it wasn't bad at all... the pacing kept me on edge throughout the film and I liked Jennifer Carpenter's performance. While she didn't vary much from her character on Dexter, she played a terrified journalist with believable intensity.

As for my Halloween film of choice, I've got to go with May. I've seen it millions of times, but the awkward-girl-turned-mad-scientist played by Angela Bettis never gets old. Also, the ending CREEPS ME RIGHT OUT. What better film to watch for this spooky seasonal celebration?

I am probably going to check out The Dead Alive by Peter Jackson at the Red Vic Moviehouse on October 30th. It is one of my favorite Zombie Comedies. Recently, I came across a great list of the top 50 horror movies of all time: Top 50 Scary Movies. According to the list, the second scariest movie of all time was "Ju-on"

That movie cannot be found.

I saw it this past weekend on Jaman and thought it was one of the most original horror films I had ever seen. I would add it to my top 10 essential horror films list for Halloween without hesitation.
