There's talk of it in other threads here, but I thought it deserved its own thread.
Despite good word from people I trust, I was still surprised how much I liked this. The colder you go into it, the more effective it'll surely be, and I'm pleased that I knew as little as I did going in.
It's queasy-making to be sure - having endured what turned out to be a triple-feature of child-endangerment films at SFIFF, I did find myself wondering how the kids were directed during certain scenes. But all five of the lead performances are very strong. And I was surprised to find that Isabelle Fuhrman was NOT in the running for the LET THE RIGHT ONE IN remake.
So you have a horror movie that's about something (the myriad terrors of parenting, which manifest in often sophisticated ways not always linked to the title character). And it makes good use of its long-ish running time.
