Without asking people to reveal their age, I'm curious to know what you think the funniest film is to come out in your lifetime...
In mine, the most sustained bit of hilarity had to be the all-too-brief 1982 TV run of "Police Squad!" which was the predecessor to "The Naked Gun." It only ran for six episodes before ABC decided it didn't get the joke and decided to cancel it. "Police Squad!" featured the dim-witted detective Frank Drebin disastrously solving on one case or another, and was so knockdown funny and so ahead of its time in terms of deadpan nonsense that I'm not surprised that TV execs got nervous and dropped the curtain on it. The best news out of all this: I just found out that you can get "Police Squad!" on DVD... Drebin, it's been too long.
Other comedies I love: The Naked Gun (of course), the BBC version of "The Office," and first six seasons of The Simpsons.
What are your favorites? Remember, it has to be something made in your liftetime! So, I guess the 90-year-olds reading this have the distinct advantage here...
