A brilliant film that I'm delighted to see here on the site. Everyone involved in it was firing on all cylinders - Cotten's a terrific foil for all the insanity unfolding around him, Welles makes a powerful, career-defining impression in what's really a small role, and post-war Vienna is the perfect environment for such a vivid, three-dimensional story. Anton Karas' music is unforgettable.
My favorite moments include the title sequence, Welles' entrance, the hilarious POV shot from within a dug-up grave, and the gentle-gut punch of the final scene.
I would have written this in a review, but I'd rather discuss it here. Any Jamanites seeing it for the first time here? Tell us what you thought!
