I've given my personal opinions of Shah Rukh Khan in other discussions here, so I'll just answer your question with questions of my own: does Hindi film need a king at all? Is it even a well-defined question who is the one "best actor"? The discussion of SRK I have alluded to shows quite clearly that one person's best actor leaves another person cold. There is no question that Shah Rukh Khan is a massively talented entertainer who has what it takes to reach many millions of people. Why is coronation necessary?

That's just the thing - it's not necessary. But if you look at Bollywood through the ages - you'll notice that it is something that has always occurred. Each decade has had its Royalty, most recently would probably be Madhuri Dixit as the Queen of Bollywood - alongside her is SRK King of Bollywood (and the book By Chopra only helps the argument).

Again it's all subjective, of course any tamed mind will contest that you can never have one greatest actor - each have their strengths.... some obviously come closer to perfection than others (Amitabh Bachchan anyone?)
