This film by Shyam Benegal really introduces us to a different side of Gandhi - his personal relationships with his son and wife, including his forced abstinence on her, as well as his initial political developments in South Africa. We hear so little about how Gandhi became so close to Christians and Muslims alike, or how he used literature and text in his education, and this film really goes a long way in showing both. Kudos for teaching me more about India and South Asian diasporic history.
