"Yuvvraaj" - A BlockBuster

Guys, I haven't seen the Movie, I read some of the reviews and i thought i should share these reviews with you folks.

"Ghai handles the dramatic scenes with flourish. Rahman's music is soothing, but you expect more because Ghai's movies are embellished with lilting music that you recall even after 2 or 3 decades. Kabir Lal captures the striking beauty of Europe well. The output is superb. The sets [Omung Kumar] are truly majestic. YUVVRAAJ belongs to Anil Kapoor, who towers above the entire cast and delivers a natural, believable performance".

Tarn Adarsh :- Film Critics

"Today, after a lean phase, the veteran filmmaker returns with Yuvvraaj , a grandiose film that has lots to boast about,Topping the list of positives is AR Rahman's scintillating music score which brings to life Gulzar's poetry with sublime fluidity. And since the film is essentially set against a musical backdrop, where Katrina and Salman are members of an Austrain orchestra, Rahman's ode to Beethoven seems in perfect sync with the script.Salman Khan and AR Rahman more than make up for the lapses, carrying you off on a sonata and a song. Watch Yuvvraaj for an in-fashion retro feel".

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but I think the movie Yuvvraj is an absolute waste! The plot was not well thought out and certainly needed to be developed further. The idea of having a dysfunctional family all vieing to inherite the biggest share of a billionaires estate is promising, but Yuvvraj is the trash of it and I'd tell why.

  1. I have a relative who is autistic and I interact with people who happen to be autistic quite often. Anil's interpretation of that character is pure slapstick. I kept cringing as I watched him portray a dense version of himself. The idea of taking a disability or disease just because it seems to flow with a plot and not researching the concept is beginning to get old in Hindi movies. I'm not Indian, but I enjoy watching them. Besides, I appreciate a movie like Taare Zameen Par.

  2. Take another example: a guy who had just been poisoned gets taken to the ER and the only cardiologist available still has the audacity to get all preachy?! I don't care what the situation is, the point is you save life first and talk later.

  3. I found all the yelling (mostly by Zayed and some by Salman) in the movie quite repulsive. Bowman Irani, I expected more from but it was all disappointing. In short, the casting was a waste of talent for the script. Most of the characters in the movie were just props (figureheads). The uncle's entire family falls in this category. The uncle's motivation for poisoning an autistic heir was non-existent. These are just a few of my peeves from this movie. All that poster with Katrina playing a chello was all marketing and crap. I absolutely do not recommend.

Thanks sunthatshines for the review. These days I hardly get to see a movie which has melodious songs. Looks like I should watch this one for the songs and of course, Salman Khan :D
