As much as I may know about actors and directors, I can't say the same about screenwriters. So, imagine how my jaw came unhinged as I saw Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, The Last Temptation of Christ, and more all credited to Paul Schrader.
If there is one film appearing in his filmography that I would love to see, it would be The Comfort of Strangers with a strange cast: Rupert Everett, Christopher Walker, Natasha Richardson, and my idol, Helen Mirren. I read the novel years ago with the hopes of tracking down a VHS copy of the film (yes, it was in the pre-DVD era) because I was determined to see every film that Ms. Mirren had acted in at that point. Something about the novel seemed to bare some dismal and gory truth about the English approach to love and marriage.
Has anyone actually seen the movie adaptation of Ian McEwan's novel via Harold Pinter's screenplay to Schrader's direction?
