I loved Iron Man. I'm not the type to pay good money to see things blown up in CG, but I made exception and was totally entertained. From start to finish.
Eh, well, it was a good movie, I enjoyed it. My suspension-of-disbelief wavered a little bit (despite the fact that I loved Indy IV). I wish it was more self-contained and less of an introduction to a franchise, y'know?
I tend to blindly follow where Robert Downey, Jr., goes but even I have to admit that The Dark Knight was far more operatic. Jeff Bridges was perfectly diabolic but somehow, Ledger's Joker was mesmerizing to the point that he started looking more "heroic" than Batman. And Harry Dent's rage filled out the emotional edges where the more pyrotechnical visual blasts couldn't reach.
I'm a bit biased here. Obviously.
On the other hand, if someone wants to cast Robert Downey, Jr., in the next Batman film, then I would be ecstatic on multiple fronts.
