Teaching and Learning in Compton was pretty interesting, in my opinion.

Few people fuse documentary and adventure like Werner Herzog. I'm particularly taken with hisLESSONS OF DARKNESS, a science fiction take on the ravaged oil fields of Kuwait after the Gulf War of the early 90s. It's a gorgeous and terrifying film.

Restricting myself to recent memory . . .

Action: The Bourne trilogy

Adventure: (not really my thing but there is a doc that fits into this category) Touching The Void

Documentary: The Kid Stays In The Picture, Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room, The Thin Blue Line, . . . this list has no end because American documentary filmmakers really shine in this area.

There are SO many good action flicks, it'll be hard to choose just one that I can call a favorite... I think I have to go with LOCK, STOCK, AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. The dry humor still cracks me up and the action sequences are fantastic. It all kind of blends together to make a close-to-perfect combination of pyrotechnics and funny. As for Adventure, I'm not sure what that means... I saw INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE recently, and it's always been one of my favorite films so I'll go with that one.

Documentary: An Inconvenient Truth. Al Gore is my friggin hero.
