At first, I wasn't into the whole craziness that has become of the Twilight series. But, like you, I wanted to know what the fuss was all about so a friend gave me a copy of the books. The first book (Twilight) was well written; then the following two that I have read so far have gotten me annoyed at the lead character Bella. She sounds so annoyingly desperate to be with Edward, her vampire love interest, that she gets all illogical about it.
I've seen the movie version of Twilight already and it was alright. I think that to fully appreciate the film one has had to read the book first. But, my sister, who didn't read the book beforehand, saw it with me and I found her on the edge of her seat wanting to find out what's next. I think that it doesn't matter if you read the books first or not, what matters is that you're really keen to see it with an open mind. Don't be biased with what people say about it.
Happy New Year's Eve! :D
