Twilight. What's all the fuss about?

So everyone keeps telling me about how good Twilight is. And the "everyone" I'm referring to are not just teeny-boppers but even guys in their late 20s of all things (that would be you Biaozeebub). So tell me, is it really "OMG" good? Should I read the books first or just go straight to the movie?

In my defense, I only knew about it because girls have told me about it. I certainly don't know how good it is since I haven't read the books but if everyone says it's good then it must be, right? Doesn't mean I'm going to watch it though. I, uh, have better things to do.

yeah it sounds like I should probably start reading the books.

Trish38 - glad to hear that it Twilight is good for all ages! And Biaozeebub - it's ok to admit you want to see the movie. LOL.

Oh and I just bumped into this article on Digg. The title reads "If you are an adult and excited to see Twilight you are an idiot". It's an argument over how bad or good the movie is.

http://pointlessbanter.net/2008/11/22/if-you-are-an-adult-and-excited-to-see-twilight-you-are-an-idiot/

So has anyone seen it? I'm intrigued now. I guess I'll have to go see it to form my own opinion.

I wouldn't see the movie again even if there was promise of my demise during the movie. Check out my review.

I can maybe admit I was 0.01% tempted to see the movie but there's no chance in hell I'd pay to see it now, especially after all the bad reviews.

Came across the age breakdown for IMDB reviews:

(Females 45+?! ZOMG!)

Honestly ther movie doesn't make me want to read the books or have anything to do with Twilight. Its like all these others movies that come from books, but this is worse because its like Hannah Montana in movie form with some kind of vampire and some cooky girl. Yeah, honestly I can't wait for this craze to be over with as much as I'm ready for the Hannah Montana and High School Musical[ which is truly terrible]] crazes to end. Its only a matter of time.

I am a 62 yr old grandmother and I LOVED the book! The movie isn't that great so I suggest reading the book after seeing the movie otherwise you will be disapponited.

To answer your questions, let me start with the last question. And I quote "Should I read the books first or just go straight to the movie?" -watch the movie first then read the book. because you will be dissappointed with the details they missed. I know I was. So watch the movie first then read the book. read all the 4 books. that's my suggestion. Regarding your first question, "So tell me, is it really "OMG" good?" -it's fairly good but it could be better. the actos for the main characters can give more effort on their acting, if you know what I mean. I think Steven Straight would be fit for the Jacob role.I am looking forward to the next movie, if they will make one. I am hopeful it will be better (it should be better, i mean the author did put great efforts in creating twilight, the movie makers should reciprocate that) that's my two cents

so it seems like if you like romantic films you will like the movie? i think i'll see the movie first because by the time i finish the book ( i just saw how thick the book is!!) the movie will be out of the theaters.

i havent read the books and i read some pretty scathing reviews about the movie so I went in to see it with pretty low expectations ... but it ended up being pretty good! the main characters are not the best actors, for sure, but they're still cute, the plotline is decent and there are some breathtaking shots of the scenery. overall, it could have been a lot better with more seasoned actors (and a better makeup artist!), but it was still a good, entertaining film.

fyi, one scene is pretty bloody but for the most part, it stays well within its pg-13 range.

Go see the movie! It's awesome! I was 'DRAGGED' to the movies against my own will (literally, there was a knife to my throat if I didn't comply). Despite being terrified for my own life, I did enjoy the movie in fear.

its always dissappoint me reading the book then watching the movie, so if i read the book i will not watch the movie and if i didnt read the book i will just go straight to the movie since book are always far better than the movie.

I am 48 and bought and read all four books this summer...initially I thought they were adult fiction, that is why...i enjoyed them, they are a fast read...i also read Stephenie Meyer's unfinished manuscript Midnight Sun which is available on her website. This is a draft and tells the Twilight story from Edward's point of view. Have seen the movie twice...liked all the good looking people in it. And the tale of true love that goes on forever.... The movie tries to remain faithful to the book but the screenplay definitely had to be adapted to fit into a two hour slot.
