A powerful story of a man in search of his past, and his determination to keep a promise made to family in a time of crisis and tragedy. When he was a child, Sirwan Namo's family managed to escape the Kurdish genocide under Saddam Hussein's regime, settling finally as refugees in New Zealand. Years later, Sirwan risks his life by traveling back to Iraq to keep an age-old promise — to see his grandmother before she dies.
