When his father, a Hassidic rabbi, passes away, 23-year-old Yuri (Ewen Leslie) returns from Israel to his family home in Sydney, Australia. Directionless, unsure of himself, Yuri distances himself from his family and the ex-girlfriend who still loves him, and strikes up an infatuation with local beauty Sarita (Leah Vandenberg). But when Sarita doesn't return his affections, Yuri slides into the company of strippers in his desperate bid for emotional and sexual connection. Director Tony Krawitz navigates this difficult terrain with such passion and assurance that we feel Yuri's journey towards self-acceptance as profoundly as he does.
