Fireworks

It's the night of the summer fireworks celebration as sixth-graders Norimichi (Youta Yamazaki), Yusuke (Takayuki Sorita), and Junichi (Kenji Kohashi) eagerly embark on a crucial mission: Find out what fireworks look like when seen sideways. As the adventurous trio sets out, their classmate Nazuna (Megumi Okina) resolves to go ahead with her plan to elope with whichever of her two boyfriends wins the upcoming swim competition. With its warmhearted innocence, and sense of childhood mystery, "Fireworks" furthers director Shunji Iwai's reputation as one of today's most outstanding visual poets of childhood and adolescence.
